In 1981 GWC, Inc. started developing and producing education and training programs for the behavioral health field with emphasis on alcohol and drug education, prevention, intervention and training.

During the past 25 years the company has produced over 350 video programs, audiocassette programs, booklets, posters and other support materials for the substance abuse and mental health field. WC and GWC Training Network have received accreditation from the following professional organizations for workshop and conference trainings:

Today, GWC is a leader in the addiction and criminal justice field, providing current up-to-date products and strategies for treating not only the alcohol and drug addict but addressing important family issues related to living in a dysfunctional family environment.

GWC and its team of content experts have been honored with numerous national and international awards for their contribution to the addiction treatment field. While the success of the programs produced by GWC has often been attributed to creativity and production quality, one of the real strength of the corporation has been the ability GWC’s team of expert presenters. The first video GWC produced in 1981 was Dr. David Ohlms’ video The Disease Concept of Alcoholism. This video has been updated several times during the past twenty-five years, and is still one GWC’s top selling videos.

In 1996, GWC productions began addressing recidivism and the needs of the criminal drug offenders when it produced the award winning video Goin’ Home To Stay with Delbert Boone. During the past ten years, Boone’s videos have been instrumental in helping thousands of individuals, offenders and professionals understand the parallels of addiction and criminal behavior.

In 2000, after recognizing the need for education and training on the parallels of addiction and criminal behavior GWC Training Network, Inc. gathered experts from around the country and developed the first National Conference on Addiction & Criminal Behavior. This one of a kind annual conference, held in St. Louis, Missouri attracts addiction treatment professionals and criminal justice professionals from across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean who gather to learn the latest strategies working with addicted offenders and their families. Conference attendees can earn continuing education for addiction services as well as criminal justice certification. The 7th National Conference on Addiction & Criminal Behavior will be held in St. Louis, MO on September 17-20, 2006.
