MDMA was first synthesized in 1912 by German company, in an ettempt
to create a new appetite suppressant. Technically an amphetamine,
Ecstasy or MDMA acts as both a stimulant and a hallucinogen. Users
report increased feelings of affection, euphoria, and openness
to communication, as well as an enhanced sensitivity to light,
and touch.

3-4 methylenedioxymethamphetamine
MDMA is not known to be physically addictive, although psychological
dependency is common among its users. The dangers of ecstasy arise
from the possiblity of dehydration and exhaustion, since it is
said to suppress feelings of hunger, thirst, and fatigue, and
more profoundly, cause brain damage from long-term use.
Ecstasy stimulates the brain to produce more serotonin, while
simultaneously blocking its reabsorption. Long term use of ecstasy
damages the cells that release serotonin, and the damage appears
to be permanent. Former users experience chronic depression, and
poor memory performance.
